In which online degree program do you teach?

  • Which classes do you teach online?

MARK 5370, and the special topics course when needed.

  • Why did you start teaching?

Teaching is my passion. I always tell everyone that I have the greatest job in the world! I meet students from all over the world and have the opportunity to help them learn marketing that they can use to advance their professional careers. I also hope that my students leave my courses knowing that I sincerely care about their learning experience.

  • What's the best advice that you ever received?

My favorite expression is, "I can play any game as long as I know the rules." Because I believe anyone can accomplish whatever they set their mind to do, I always try to make my course structure easy to follow and ensure that students understand my expectations so they can be successful in my course.

  • What's the best advice that you could give your students?

We all bring unique experiences to everything we do, so try to keep an open mind so you can learn not only from your faculty but also your peers.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

From a healthcare perspective, Fred Lee's book "If Disney Ran Your Hospital: 9½ Things You Would Do Differently."

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the profession in which you teach?

Healthcare administration is continually faced with evolving challenges in both the internal and external environment. Integrity, commitment to excellence in all you do, and the ability to adapt to change should help someone be successful.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

I believe the biggest challenge people in healthcare face today is their frustration with endless paperwork and changing regulations that hinder the effective delivery of healthcare.

  • How do you see online learning affecting the future of education?

Students today are trying to manage busy work schedules and demands of family life. Online learning will continue to grow because it allows students to reach their academic goals with more flexible academic environments.
