Marketing management professionals are benefiting from what experts have called the “democratization of education.” Initial fears about the proliferation of online education have given way to the growth of best practices. In short, many different forms of online education have consolidated and streamlined into the best approaches, creating opportunities like an online MBA program.
Overcoming Online Problems
According to a 2014 study conducted by three Ivy League economists, the democratization of education has created concerns. The study cites a growing fear that online education will be “disequalizing, creating superstar teachers, a wider gulf between different groups of students and potentially a winner-take-all educational system.”
Fortunately, though, these scholars discovered the opposite is true: “not only will educational resources be more equally distributed, but also lower-skilled teachers will be winners from this technology.” That is, teachers’ access to varied lesson plans, activities and knowledge have democratized pedagogical information, and teachers are sharing best practices.
Are Online Programs Expensive?
While this is a somewhat relative question, the increase in lifetime earnings after graduation often offsets the cost of an online MBA program. The price of an online MBA program can range from $10,000 to $90,000. Such a wide range can make the investment difficult to consider objectively.
However, Fortune magazine reported in 2015 that MBA graduates can expect an average of $45,000 more in earnings immediately following graduation. Given that salary grows over time, many marketing management professionals are enrolling in online MBA programs to advance their careers and invest in later earnings.
How Long Does an Online Program Take?
The average duration of an online MBA program is one to two years. However, an online MBA program also offers the flexibility to continue working while pursuing the degree.
Given the advantages of an online MBA program, it is no wonder more and more marketing management professionals are taking advantage of this option.
